Once again, we have the privilege of celebrating two such joyous and meaningful occasions so close together. Hanukkah began its eight days of celebration on Sunday the 22nd, with Christmas following on the 25th. An appropriate closing to this decade, as we prepare to usher in another ten-year period of life on School House Planet Earth. May we each bring our “best selves” to the Table of Life!
Celebrating the birth of the Christ Child on Christmas is as important to the Christian world as celebrating the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem is to the Jewish community.
Please take time to reflect on the many miracles surrounding both of these momentous events: a brilliant light in the Heavens was able to guide Wise Men to the manger where a babe had just been born to weary parents in the midst of a precarious journey. Aid and comfort had miraculously been granted to this young couple who appeared to be alone in the world, and yet they were surrounded by treasured gifts from the Wise Men, peasants and their stock, and Angels on High.
In Jerusalem, a mighty war for right and justice was waged and won. Even to this present day, “God’s gift of light to the World” is celebrated with the lighting of the Menorah on each night of the Hanukkah celebration. Each subsequent candle rekindling the ancient mystery of how the Temple was purified and the wicks of the Menorah burned for 8 days even though there was only enough sacred oil for one day’s lighting.
Where the Light of the Divine burns truly and brightly, love, courage, honor and the belief in right action will always prevail. Just as the Light that is Universal Brotherhood continues to shine throughout the world, we salute you all for your good hearts and your individual ministries.
Whether you’re celebrating Hanukkah or Christmas, please do it with a loving and inclusive, peaceful heart. Be aware and open to the many miracles present in your life right this minute, as you remain open to the many more coming to you in the New Year; they’re all just waiting to manifest, if you’re willing to receive.
On behalf of the Universal Brotherhood Board of Directors, our Founders, Rick and Jeni Prigmore and our Executive Director, Robin Morini, may you be Blessed richly and often during this Season of Light. Thank you for your good works, your good deeds and your willing hearts of service.
Blessings to you and to all those you hold dear,
Rev. Rosemary Cathcart, President
