From UB President Rosemary Cathcart: Happy & Healthy 2018!

It seems like just a moment ago, I was wishing everyone a happy and healthy New Year for 2017!  Yet here we are again, at yet another gateway, and about to embark on one more 365-day adventure.
I am sending out prayers of hope and peace for every member of our UB family, and all the many citizens of the world. As I pray for others, I also pray that I am able to maintain a cheerful demeanor, no matter what surprises life might have in store.
My hopes going forward for 2018 revolve around goodness and kindness, laced with common sense and lots of love. Love being the key factor for me in every encounter. I hope I am able to remember that lofty ideal in my most clumsy moments when I’m overtired, hungry and short on time.
My personal wish for the New Year is to become more vulnerable and kinder to myself in every transaction, as I extend the same to others.
A year ago I shared an ancient Sufi exercise which always levels the playing field for me, reminding me that we are all children of GOD, and we all deserve sweetness, compassion and understanding.  Here it is again:
Just Like Me

“Just like me, this person is seeking some happiness for themselves.
Just like me, this person is trying to avoid suffering in their life.
Just like me, this person has known sadness, loneliness and despair.
Just like me, this person is seeking to fulfill their needs.
Just like me, this person is learning about life.”
Perhaps these simple but profound words can serve as a template for right action in the year ahead. May this sweetness and compassion be woven into the fabric of every day in the coming year for you and all those you love. May you also experience the joy of accomplishment and the warmth of genuine affection.
As a Universal Brotherhood Minister, you are embraced and cherished for the part you’ve chosen to play on the world stage. You are never alone and are always considered “family” to our Founders, Rick and Jeni Prigmore, our Executive Director, Robin Morini, to our Corporate Board and to me. May your Light continue to shine brightly throughout all of 2018, and may you know peace, love, clarity and ease.
Blessings to you and to all those you hold dear,
   Rosemary

GREETINGS OF THE SEASON 2017

Here we are once again, dear friends, in the month of Light and Love, as we celebrate Hanukkah on December 13, 2017 and Christmas on the 25th.
Although our world has suffered greatly these past 12 months, in our shared beliefs of community, good works and the integrity of our actions, I invite us all to come together once again, in harmony. Come together, as we remember the lovely ceremony of our own individual Ordinations as Universal Brotherhood Ministers. These were not empty words and statements, but a gracious invitation to become members of a community of kind-hearted souls with the best of intentions. We are the people who can help change the world for the better.
With this in mind, let us joyfully rededicate ourselves to holding close the memory of the birth of the Christ Child on Christmas, as we also celebrate the Holy Temple in Jerusalem.
Celebrated earlier than usual this year, Hanukkah brings “God’s gift of light to the World” as the menorah is lit on each night of the celebration. Each subsequent candle rekindling the ancient memory of how the Temple was purified and the wicks of the menorah burned for 8 days ~ even though there was only enough sacred oil for one day’s lighting.
The hope of Christmas for Christians and the courage and faith of the Jews are more alike than not. I truly believe the “name” we call our faith practice pales in comparison to the deeper held beliefs we share as Children of God. We were meant to shine our Light in the world and there is no better time than December.
Remember the miracles we’ve come from:  the Holy babe in the manger and a menorah that burned for 8 days!  Miracles upon Miracles and Wonders shall never cease. We are all of that and more, and we are meant to be a resource to not only ourselves, but to everyone we minster to, and the whole world as well.
Whether you’ve already celebrated Hanukkah or are about to celebrate Christmas, please do it all with a loving and peaceful heart. Allow yourself to be more aware than ever of the many miracles present in your life right this minute and know that you can be the creator of even more in the year ahead.
You are the Miracle now!
On behalf of the Universal Brotherhood Board of Directors, our Founders, Rick and Jeni Prigmore and our Executive Director, Robin Morini, may the blessings of this Holy season richly reward you for all of your good deeds and willing hearts.
Blessings to you and to all those you hold dear,
   Rosemary

Thanksgiving Message November 23, 2017

Along with so many of us in Universal Brotherhood, Thanksgiving holds a very special place in my heart and spirit. Having always loved the idea of serving others and sharing my bounty with family and friends alike, this holiday most especially fills me with joy.

However, as we approach this quintessential American celebration, many throughout our country and around the world find themselves in a state of war and deep despair. Perhaps as we sit around our tables, overflowing with good food and libations, we can also hold in our hearts prayers for the whole world. As Universal Brotherhood Ministers, we have a special opportunity to be of service in thought, word and deed. To me, there is no better time than at Thanksgiving.
This year, on Thursday, November 23, 2017, may we of Universal Brotherhood be a voice unified in truth, honor and dignity, spreading a sense of hope and hospitality to everyone we encounter physically, and all those we hold in our minds and hearts.
In each individual home, as we bless the feast this Thanksgiving Day, may we remember all of the many troops stationed around the world, protecting our freedoms and our rights to enjoy this American holiday. From the first toast to the last bite of pumpkin pie, treasure the moments, enjoy the closeness of loved ones and sit in deep gratitude for all that is good in your life.
Please know that you are held in the hearts and minds of not only the Founders of Universal Brotherhood, Rick and Jeni Prigmore, but every member of the Corporate Board, including our Executive Director, Robin Morini. We shower you with love and genuine affection on a daily basis and are all better for your participation and your presence in this ministry. May abundant blessings grace your life and the lives of all those you hold dear.
A very Happy Thanksgiving to you!
Rosemary

Happy Independence Day 2017!

In Philadelphia, PA, 241 years ago this month, a group of proud and feisty men representing the 13 colonies of “The New America” claimed their independence from England. On their courageous and sturdy shoulders rested this brand new entity called the United States of America, and our beloved country was born. In universal time, 241 years is a very small number; however, in terms of our lives and the good fortune American citizens associate with living in this magnificent country, it’s an excellent number indeed.

Universal Brotherhood Movement, Inc. is a quintessential American creation, also founded on the principles of good faith and right action for all concerned. As an international organization, UB is represented well with a world-wide membership comprised of people from every culture and all religions.  This is definitely an asset to all of us as we endeavor to become a resource to everyone to whom we minister, with a belief in treating all who cross our paths with respect, acceptance and an open mind.

On Tuesday, July 4, as you enjoy your picnics and family parties, please stop and reflect on the great good fortune that’s at the heart of the celebration. Should you be in the presence of our national anthem, please pause to remember (and this actually means taking your hats and caps off, gentlemen, and standing at attention) as you reflect on the sacrifices made by all those countless men and women who have gone to battle for the freedoms we enjoy. In terms of lives lost and lives forever changed by the scars of war, 241 becomes an infinitely more important number. A number imbued with faith, courage, pride and a deep trust in the principles upon which this country was founded.

If you are an American citizen, whether born in this country or as a naturalized citizen, claim your pride at being an American and throughout the 4th of July festivities, reflect on how you can now, in 2017 and beyond, be an honorable resource to our Nation. As the fireworks blast into the night sky, recall the words to America the Beautiful:

“O beautiful for spacious skies,

For amber waves of grain,

For purple mountains majesties

Above the fruited plain,

America, America! God shed his grace on thee,

And crown thy good with brotherhood

From sea to shining sea!”

As always, thank you for your dedicated service to UB, and thank you for being a part of the love, healing and growth of our wonderful country, the United States of America.

Just as “God shed his grace on our country,” your presence graces and enhances every aspect of Universal Brotherhood and the work we do in the world.

Blessings to you and to all those you hold dear,

Rosemary

Monday, May 29, 2017 marks this year’s observation of Memorial Day.

Originally named “Decoration Day,” the first reported observation was 1861. The name “Memorial Day” was first used in 1882, and was declared the official name of the holiday by federal law in 1967. Memorial Day is intended as a day to recognize, remember and honor those who gave their lives in service to the United States.

More than a 3-day holiday with lots of sales and plenty of partying, on this Memorial Day, please take a moment and pause to remember the shoulders on which the celebration rests. My uncles and brothers all served in every branch of the Armed Forces, as I’m sure yours did and may well still be serving.

Perhaps you could join a Memorial Day parade, or visit a cemetery and place a wreath on the grave of someone’s husband, wife, brother, sister, son or daughter. If you’re out and see veterans or those currently serving, take a moment to look them in the eye, shake their hand and say thank you.

And consider joining in the National Moment of Remembrance. The National Moment of Remembrance, established by Congress, asks Americans, wherever they are at 3 p.m. local time on Memorial Day, to pause in an act of national unity for a duration of one minute. The time 3 p.m. was chosen because it is the time when most Americans are enjoying their freedoms on the national holiday. At the same time, a number of organizations throughout the country also observe the Moment: all major league baseball games halt, Amtrak train whistles sound across the country; and countless participants make a vow to remember.

This Memorial Day, please remember to thank all of our very brave and selfless men and women throughout time who have fought for all of our many freedoms. To my mind, I don’t believe they fought so gallantly for us to have more wars, but to enjoy a peaceful and love-filled life, in a united country where the pursuit of a good life supported by peace, equality and freedoms are extended to all of our many citizens.

But maybe we can do even more. Perhaps, as UB Ministers, we can all hold that lofty aspiration close to our very connected hearts on this special holiday of MEMORIAL DAY?  Remember, “Where one or more are gathered in MY name…….”

Blessings to us all,

Rev. Rosemary Cathcart

President

SPRING 2017

Spring is definitely blessing us all with sunnier, longer days and the hint of blossoms sprouting up here and there.  No matter where you are located in our vast network of Universal Brotherhood Ministers, please know that we are all a “family of choice.”  Each of us able to worship with whomever we choose, in the manner that best represents our deepest connection to God and Divine Spirit.

For those of us in the midst of celebrating Passover (April 10-18th) and those of us who will be celebrating Easter on Sunday the 16th, may we all find ourselves in the company of people we love and with whom we enjoy a deep and profound sense of respect and genuine integrity of spirit.

As we come together in our chosen manner of prayer and celebration, let us all remember the extraordinary power of intentional prayers scattered across our communities, our country and ultimately across the entire Cosmos.  We are all brothers and sisters in spirit, and throughout this season of reverence, as we intentionally widen our circle of love and influence, we become the living embodiment of the Christ spirit in action.

To me these sacred and holy traditions are meant to encompass introspection, reflection and deep forgiveness ~ forgiveness toward others.  I do not think it’s any accident that the word forgiveness is mentioned 72 times in the New Testament.  Perhaps that is a clue to the true meaning of attaining peace and wholeness?  I believing it truly is.

As always, please know that you are being held in the Light by everyone on the Corporate Board of Universal Brotherhood, and by our Founders, Rick and Jeni Prigmore.  You are the life blood of this wonderful organization, and as such, we extend to you the warm embrace of genuine affection and caring; I certainly hope you are feeling that at this moment and throughout each season of the year.  Please let us hear from you, regularly.

May Grace allow you to rise higher and higher during these most special and holy celebrations of Passover and Easter.

Blessings to you and to all those you hold dear,

Rev. Rosemary Cathcart, President

UB VALENTINE’S DAY MESSAGE 2017

On the anniversary of Saint Valentine’s Day, Tuesday February 14, 2017, my wish for all of us is that we can come together in the true spirit of “love”.  A love without judgment or conditions, simply a love of, by and for like-minded, good-hearted seekers and ministers whose choice it is to serve the whole of humanity.

No matter what external dramas may be unfolding on the world stage, or in our own backyards, may we keep our focus firmly placed on an expectation of good.  An expectation that “God is never too late”, that Divine Order always prevails and that the best is yet to come.  Between the red hearts, the flowers and the chocolates, attune yourself to the higher vibration, which is a sincere desire to bless and to love.

Please know in your heart, that no matter what the holiday or season of the year, you are held warmly in the hearts and minds of not only the Founders of Universal Brotherhood, Rick and Jeni Prigmore, but every member of the Corporate Board, including our beloved Executive Director, Robin Morini.  You are showered with love and genuine affection on a daily basis.  Please embrace that love and share it with all those who are near and dear to you and to all of those to whom you minister.

The worldwide ministry of UB was founded on love as an abiding principle of spiritual service and presence.  Each one of us has the potential for enormous good, so let’s not waste a moment!  “Knowing that LOVE is the strongest power on EARTH, I willingly attune my heart, mind and body to love as I open myself to experience every aspect of this life I love living!”

Blessings to you and to all those you hold dear,

Rosemary

Happy New Year 2017!

In the blink of an eye another year has come and is just about to go around the bend and into the annals of “history.”
I wish each and every one of our wonderful UB Ministers the highest and the best now and into this New Year so full of potential and brilliant opportunity.
For me, I won’t be making traditional resolutions this year. Instead I plan on “waking up to myself.” I am rekindling all those long-cherished hopes, wishes and dreams that I plan to quietly and diligently tend to each day of this New Year. It’s an ambitious plan I’m putting forth:  to do less and to be more.
As I work at becoming the author of my own life, retraining my brain and digging deep in search of the truly radiant being that I am, I will be quiet more often. I’ll rely on a short but potent daily meditation practice to co-ordinate the proposed (and longed-for) shift in my mind/brain/body/consciousness. And I’ll be expecting good results; after all, I’ll have 365 days in which to perfect the experiment!
I’ll be dropping my guard more often as I laugh out loud at life, at the antics of other people and most importantly, I’ll laugh at myself with sweetness and good humor.
And even more importantly, I’ll be taking kindness with me wherever I go and remembering that we’re all doing the best we can. I’ll memorize once again this “Just Like Me” exercise:
Just Like Me
“Just like me, this person is seeking some happiness for themselves.
Just like me, this person is trying to avoid suffering in their life.
Just like me, this person has known sadness, loneliness and despair.
Just like me, this person is seeking to fulfill their needs.
Just like me, this person is learning about life.”
This ancient Sufi exercise levels the playing field and reminds me that we are all children of God, and we all deserve sweetness, compassion and understanding.
May that sweetness and compassion be woven into the fabric of every day of this New Year for you and those you love. May you experience the joy of accomplishment and the warm tenderness of genuine affection.
As a Universal Brotherhood Minister you are embraced and cherished for the part you’ve chosen to play on the world stage as a representative of such good intentions. You are never alone and are always considered “family” to our Founders, Rick and Jeni Prigmore, to our Executive Director, Robin Morini, to our Corporate Board and to me. May your Light shine brighter than ever before, with a sense of renewed purpose and clarity in the coming New Year of 2017.
Blessings to you and to all those you hold dear,

What a blessing to celebrate two such joyous and meaningful occasions so close together this year!

What a blessing to celebrate two such joyous and meaningful occasions so close together this year!
2016 has proven to be a topsy-turvy time for so many people, it seems to me that Spirit wanted to give us all reason to have more joy than ever as we usher out this year with as much light, love and joy as possible.
Celebrating the birth of the Christ Child on Christmas is as important to the Christian world as celebrating the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem is to the Jewish population.
Reflect for just a moment on the many miracles surrounding the birth of Jesus. Aid and comfort were given when none seemed available to a young couple heavy with impending birth. A brilliant light in the Heavens was able to guide wise men bearing treasured gifts, as simple peasants and their stock surrounded and nurtured in awe as the miracles unfolded.
In Jerusalem, a mighty war for right and justice was waged and won. Generally celebrated near the Winter Solstice, Hanukkah brings “God’s gift of light to the World” as the menorah is lit on each night of the celebration. Each subsequent candle rekindling the ancient mystery of how the Temple was purified and the wicks of the menorah burned for 8 days even though there was only enough sacred oil for one day’s lighting.
In each case, we witness the Light of the Divine shining brightly in the midst of courage, strength and the hope that something larger and more powerful than us is guiding the way. And I believe it always is.
Whether you’re celebrating Christmas on the 25th or lighting the menorah to celebrate Hanukkah December 24-January 1, 2017 ~ please do it with a loving and peaceful heart. Be aware and open to the many miracles present in your life right this minute and be receptive to even more in the coming year. They’re all just waiting to manifest, if you’re willing to receive.
On behalf of the Universal Brotherhood Board of Directors, our Founders, Rick and Jeni Prigmore and our Executive Director, Robin Morini, may the blessings of this holiday season richly reward you for all of your good deeds and your willing hearts.
Blessings to you and to all those you hold dear,
